Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The System Engineer - Managed File Transfer (MFT)serves as the primary technical owner of G+D's secure file transfer environment, ensuring reliable, secure, and compliant exchange of business-critical data between customers, partners, and internal systems. This role leads the administration, enhancement, and modernization of enterprise MFT platforms, including Axway SecureTransport, IBM Connect:Direct, SFTP, SSH, PGP encryption, and comparable MFT solutions. The engineer partners closely with application owners, infrastructure teams, Information Security, customers and vendors to design, implement, and support secure data exchange solutions while maintaining the underlying Windows and Linux systems that host MFT services.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Managed File Transfer (Primary Focus)
  • Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize Axway SecureTransport environments.
  • Support IBM Connect:Direct infrastructure and secure file transfer services.
  • Configure and maintain SFTP, FTPS, SCP, SSH and related protocols.
  • Manage SSH keys, PGP encryption, certificates, and secure authentication mechanisms.
  • Onboard internal and external MFT partners.
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure file transfer workflows.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation solutions to improve file transfer monitoring, onboarding processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Migrate legacy MFT platforms and customer integrations to modern enterprise solutions.
  • Monitor platform performance, availability, capacity trends, and security events, proactively identifying risks and implementing improvements
  • Troubleshoot complex end-to-end file transfer issues involving customers, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities with customers, vendors, and internal application owners.
  • Maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.

Systems & Infrastructure
  • Support Windows Server and Linux systems hosting MFT applications.
  • Administer Active Directory service accounts and permissions related to MFT.
  • Support VMware virtual machines hosting MFT services.
  • Work with networking teams to troubleshoot routing, DNS, firewall, VPN, and connectivity issues.
  • Support certificate lifecycle management.
  • Assist with backup and disaster recovery testing.
  • Participate in maintenance windows and infrastructure changes.

Operations & Projects
  • Execute MFT implementation and migration projects.
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvements and automation of operational processes.
  • Collaborate with Information Security to ensure compliance with corporate security standards.
  • Support PCI DSS, SOC II, ISO27001, and internal audit requirements.
  • Maintain operational documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Participate in on-call support when required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or enterprise application support experience
  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise managed file transfer (MFT) platforms, secure data solutions, or related integration technologies.
  • Experience with Axway SecureTransport, IBM Connect:Direct, or comparable enterprise MFT Solutions is strongly preferred
  • Experience in PCI-regulated, financial services, payment, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments strongly preferred

The pay range for this position is $105,000-$125,000 and is eligible for an annual bonus.
