Job Title: Pressmen (1) - Sheetfed & Web Department: Press

Reports To: Production Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Pay Band: 1 Wage Range: $28.90-43.66

Shifts: 12hr night Shift Differential Range: 12hr Night: $2.00

Job Summary:

A Pressman 1 will be responsible for the entire press operation, including producing published materials by operating and maintaining printing presses from pre-planning to postproduction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities-Both Web & Sheetfed:

Operates printing press from pre stages to post stages to produce published materials including direct mail, catalogs, etc.

Review job requirements to understand the scope and parameters of print jobs.

Effectively run and manage of crew of individuals to meet production goals.

Inspect proof sheets and adjust press machinery as necessary to evaluate and meet the quality standards and specifications of job.

Maintains inventory of supplies for operation.

Apply Color Theory to maintain quality specifications of jobs.

Troubleshoots issues with printing press and makes basic repairs, informs of issues to supervisor.

Drafts and submits reports for daily production totals as required.

Maintains a clean area around printing machinery.

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks to maintain optimal equipment performance.

Ensure compliance with Nahan Lean manufacturing principles.

Work assigned shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Responsibilities-Sheet Fed:

Prepare, set up, align, and configure machinery including ink, rollers, paper, coater, feeder and delivery systems.

Prepare, set up, align, and configure machinery including ink, rollers, paper inline systems, folder, stacker, or jogger.

Operate and maintain ink jet system (if applicable).

Skills and Abilities Required:

Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions.

Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.

Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications.

Strong Computer skills.

Ability to work independently and part of a team.

Strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening).

Excellent time management skills and organizational skills.

Proficiency/fluent with English language, both written and verbal.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent

Post high school graphic arts training preferred

1+ years previous related experience preferred

On-the-job training provided

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will regularly lift 70lbs or more at a time. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. Employees must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.

Occasionally while performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including paper dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of PPE. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places, and confined spaces. The nose level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.
