Description
The HR Generalist is responsible for performing a wide range of human resources functions that support the employee lifecycle. This role partners with leadership and employees to ensure HR policies, procedures, and best practices are consistently applied. The HR Generalist position manages daily HR Operations including, new hire onboarding support, employee relations, benefits administration support, HRIS maintenance and reporting, and leave administration while contributing to a positive and compliant workplace culture.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent; preferred bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
• Driver's license
• Preferred SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
• 3-5 years of HR experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, FMLA, ADA, wage and hour, and employee classification
• Knowledge of HR best practices across core functions such as employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, and performance management
• Collaborate or interact with diverse individuals, demonstrate empathy, and build rapport with staff.
• Capacity to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage high-volume administrative duties.
• Maintains confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive personal and corporate information.
• Analytical and critical-thinking skills to evaluate employee relations issues, HR data, and compliance risks
• Conflict resolution and mediation skills to support fair and consistent employee relations outcomes
• Proficiency in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) platforms and Microsoft Office applications, including reporting and data tracking
• Ability to manage employee relations investigations and documentation objectively
• Adapt to change, shifting priorities, and evolving business needs
• Support change management initiatives and organizational transitions
• Build trust and credibility with employees at all organizational levels
In addition, must possess skill in working cooperatively and effectively with clients, staff, management, and other professional groups; in exercising mature judgment in dealing with people; in presenting ideas clearly and accurately; in reading and comprehending the English language; and in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties:
• Act as the point of contact to employees in assigned geographical areas for any HR related questions, inquiries or concerns.
• Advises leaders on employee relations, conflict resolution, and communication strategies.
• Meet with department managers for assigned geographical areas on a regular basis to provide additional support for workforce management goals and agency objectives.
• Communicates HR policies, procedures, and employment-related information clearly and professionally.
• Support performance management processes, including evaluations, goal tracking, and coaching documentation.
• Assist in facilitating new hire orientation on a rotating basis.
• Support general HR administrative tasks such as benefits (including open enrollment support), training, licensure/certification renewals, timecard management and HRIS data maintenance.
• Assist with employee relations matters, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations in compliance with company policy.
• Coordinate and complete exit interview and offboarding meetings with staff separating employment.
• Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation as needed.
• Utilize HRIS platform to automate personnel changes such as transfers, promotions or demotions, and separations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
• Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested.
• Manage and resolve all assigned HR inquiries submitted through the current HR Helpdesk ticketing system.
• Meet or exceed "satisfactory" expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential and expected for this position.
