Job description

  • Assist with multi-state payroll processing, including execution support, validation, and reconciliation, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage, tax, and employment laws.
  • Process team member status changes (i.e., promotions, rehires, resignations, retirements, transfers, etc.).
  • Manage paid time off (PTO) accruals and audit team member balances for accuracy.
  • Support timely responses to payroll and IRS tax notices and assist with employer registrations as required under applicable federal, state, and local laws.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • (5 years) Proven experience in HR Operations, with hands-on ownership of compliance and employee data management responsibilities, and experience supporting payroll, benefits, and leave administration.
  • (5 years) Demonstrated end-to-end multi-state payroll experience, including execution, controls, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • (5 years) Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including payroll tax requirements and leave administration.
  • (5 years) Hands-on HRIS administration experience, with Workday highly preferred; specifically in HR administration, reporting, analytics, auditing, and system maintenance.
  • Experience leading compliance and audits (e.g., 401(k), payroll, or benefits audits).
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify data discrepancies, trace root causes, and implement sustainable controls.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills; able to work independently and manage sensitive, confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience proactively monitoring employment law updates through trusted sources (e.g., SHRM, legal alerts, regulatory publications) and translating changes into compliant HR operations practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, unemployment, and state-specific leave requirements.
  • Data and analysis expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solution-oriented, creative thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office, tech-savvy.
  • Must have a high sense of urgency, customer-service driven, and team player mentality.

Licenses & Certifications

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred, or demonstrated commitment to ongoing education in HR compliance and employment law.

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
