Job description

MPS Group, Inc. is seeking a Human Resource Coordinator to join our team at the Headquarters located in Farmington Hills, MI. This individual will be responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Human Resources function by managing HR systems, coordinating onboarding activities, maintaining accurate employee data, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal procedures. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, initiative, and effective collaboration with employees, supervisors, and business leaders.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
  • Performs HRIS data entry for new hires, rehires, promotions, demotions, pay rate changes, transfers, and terminations.
  • Coordinates pre-boarding and onboarding activities to ensure accurate documentation, compliance, and a positive new hire experience.
  • Schedules and manages background checks and screening requirements in accordance with legal and company standards.
  • Maintains and updates new hire paperwork, forms, checklists, and onboarding documentation.
  • Inputs, maintains, audits, extracts, manipulates, and analyzes confidential HR data within HR systems.
  • Conducts regular HRIS data audits to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency.
  • Completes employment eligibility documentation, including I-9s and E-Verify, in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Responds to employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, escalating sensitive or complex issues to the appropriate HR contact.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly new hire reports to supervisors and administrators.
  • Updates applicant notes and tracking information within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and related spreadsheets.
  • Completes verifications of employment accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Tracks and processes employee referral bonuses in accordance with union and non-union guidelines.
  • Prepares and distributes new hire employee announcements following established communication standards.
  • Prepares HR-related documentation for legal matters as assigned by the HR Director or legal counsel.
  • Maintains organized and timely HR filing to ensure accessibility for HR team members.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve HRIS processes, system performance, and administrative procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all employment laws, company policies, and HR procedures.
  • Communicates consistently with employees and managers during onboarding and HR inquiries, ensuring same-day responses.
  • Assists with HR and Talent Acquisition projects, system launches, audits, and employee events as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two-years of related human resources, administrative, or data management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately manage and input data across multiple systems.
  • Exhibits excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Takes initiative, problem-solves independently, and adapts to changing priorities.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of I9 and E-Verify processes.
  • Understanding of recruiting workflows and background check processes.
