Position: Operations Research Analyst

Location: Wright Patterson AFB, OH (On-site)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1630. Travel may be required for authorized meetings, conferences, and mission-related activities.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Operations Research or a related field with extensive coursework in mathematics, probability, statistics, or mathematical logic.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Operations Research or a related analytical field.
  • Expert knowledge of operations research methodologies, scientific inquiry, and analytical techniques.
  • Experience designing, conducting, and leading operational studies involving health surveillance data, health records, military records, and operational readiness.
  • Ability to develop, review, edit, and deliver technical reports, white papers, manuscripts, presentations, and other analytical products with minimal revisions.
  • Ability to use or quickly learn analytical tools such as Envision, Tableau, Python, R, SAS Viya, and Qualtrics.
  • Ability to obtain required database access and manage sensitive research data.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to provide a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to the start of performance.


Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior military experience or experience working in a military research environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide operations research expertise in support of the USAFSAM Operational Consultation Support Team and the Studies and Analysis Portfolio.
  • Analyze complex operational and management problems, evaluate alternatives, and provide data-driven recommendations to support Air Force decision-making.
  • Design and conduct analytical studies using scientific and operations research methodologies to address operational health and human performance challenges.
  • Collect, research, and analyze data to define problems, evaluate assumptions, and identify effective solutions.
  • Recommend analytical approaches, emerging technologies, and innovative methodologies to improve research outcomes and address aeromedical operational issues.
  • Develop independent research proposals, technical studies, and alternative courses of action for USAFSAM leadership.
  • Support 711 HPW researchers by providing analytical expertise throughout the research lifecycle.
  • Prepare, review, and present technical reports, manuscripts, briefings, presentations, and other research products while meeting established project deadlines.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with government agencies, academia, and subject matter experts to support ongoing research initiatives.
