Job description

  • Conduct human factors research and development activities aligned with Honeywell Aerospace goals and objectives
  • Design and conduct experiments and usability studies to evaluate aerospace system interfaces and controls
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, pilots, and systems engineers to integrate human factors into product development
  • Design, test, and certify the look, feel, and operational behavior of flight decks
  • Apply human factors methodologies to develop, evaluate, analyze, test, and support cognitive, interactive, ergonomic, and behavioral attributes of flight decks
  • Ensure flight deck interfaces and flight management automation complement pilotsโ€™ cognitive, physical, sensory, and ergonomic capabilities
  • Identify emerging technologies to increase aviation safety and add product or service value
  • Support design requirements for flight crew interface changes and enhancements on commercial airplane models, including testing and implementation
  • Develop human-centered design recommendations supporting FAA safety, performance, and modernization objectives
  • Work with Honeywell Aerospace test pilots, international avionics communities, and regulators
  • Respond to government funding solicitations and perform on government research contracts
  • Submit patent applications and academic publications, and share technical knowledge
  • Report directly to the management team
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or advanced degree in Engineering, Software, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in research and development projects within aerospace or related technology environments
  • Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and simulation tools
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Experience applying human factors research methods and statistical analyses in an applied aviation or operational environment
  • Experience with experimental design, simulation studies, and quantitative data analysis
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to communicate complex human factors findings to technical and operational audiences
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as R, SPSS, MATLAB, Python, or similar
  • Experience performing human factors research and development projects within aerospace or related technology environments
  • Expertise in human factors engineering principles, usability testing, and ergonomic design specific to aerospace systems
  • Proficiency with human factors analysis tools, simulation software, and experimental design methodologies
  • U.S. Person requirement: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status, or ability to obtain export authorization
  • Masterโ€™s or Ph.D. in Human Factors, UX/UI Design, Engineering, Psychology, or a related field is valued
  • Previous in-person research experience collecting human subject data from a flight simulator is valued
  • Familiarity with human-in-the-loop simulation environments and human performance modeling is valued
  • Experience integrating human factors principles into system engineering, safety analysis, or concept development is valued
  • Experience collecting human subject data from experiments on complex technologies is valued
  • Pilot certification or experience is valued
  • Strong proposal-writing skills are valued
  • Knowledge of cognitive engineering, system safety, and human-machine interface design is valued
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and certification processes is valued
