Job description

Faculty – Human Biology 

The College of Health Sciences at Cleveland University-Kansas City seeks a broadly trained and innovative teaching colleague to contribute to our Human Biology degree programs. Candidates with a background in general biology, microbiology, genetics, immunology, and research techniques will be particularly suited to complement the program. The position is a 12-month, on-campus faculty appointment starting fall semester 2026. Initial rank is commensurate with experience and credentials at the time of hire, with opportunities for promotion. 

Our 94 credit-hour reduced-credit Bachelor of Human Biology program is one of the first of its kind in the United States. The fully online program integrates biological coursework, along with chemistry and physics. The program is designed to prepare students for further professional health/medical education or science-related employment opportunities. While the position primarily focuses on teaching, we also seek candidates with scholarship in discipline-based education and/or commitments to provide research experiences for undergraduates. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in any biological science with preference in Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Immunology, Cell or Molecular Biology, Genetics, Histology, or Embryology/ Developmental Biology.  

  1. Prior experience in teaching online science courses.  

  1. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English. 

  1. Existing legal authorization to work in the United States. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Ph.D. in Biology or closely related subject area. 

  1. Experience in Biological Science curriculum design. 

  1. Experience with Canvas learning management system. 

  1. Scholarship work, publications, committee work, and other relevant experience in higher education.
