What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Human-AI Collaboration roles, and why are they important?

Success in Human-AI Collaboration roles requires a strong understanding of both AI technologies and human-centered design, often supported by education in computer science, data analysis, or related fields. Familiarity with AI platforms, collaborative tools, and programming languages such as Python or R, as well as knowledge of machine learning frameworks, is typically expected. These abilities are crucial for creating effective, user-friendly AI solutions that address real-world needs and ensure productive synergy between humans and machines.

What is Human-AI Collaboration?

Human-AI Collaboration refers to the process where humans and artificial intelligence systems work together to achieve shared goals or solve problems. In this partnership, AI assists with data analysis, automation, and decision-making, while humans provide context, creativity, and ethical judgment. The goal is to leverage the strengths of both humans and machines, resulting in more effective outcomes than either could achieve alone. Human-AI Collaboration is increasingly important in fields such as healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, where complex tasks benefit from both human intuition and AI efficiency.

How does a Human AI Collaboration specialist typically work with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing workflows?

A Human AI Collaboration specialist plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between technical AI teams and non-technical stakeholders. They work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and business units to understand workflow requirements and identify areas where AI can add value without disrupting current processes. Collaboration often involves facilitating workshops, gathering user feedback, and iteratively refining AI-driven tools to ensure they are user-friendly and aligned with organizational goals. This role requires strong communication skills and adaptability, as specialists must translate complex AI concepts into actionable solutions for diverse teams.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Enterprise AI UX Design to define and scale how employees interact with AI across the enterprise. This leader will establish the standards, frameworks, and reusable patterns that shape a unified experience across AI Assistants, Operational AI & Automation, Applied/Domain AI, and Agentic AI solutions.

This role is responsible for ensuring that Human-AI interactions are intuitive, trusted, low-friction, and consistent across products and workflows. The Senior Manager will create enterprise-wide standards for interaction design, collaboration patterns, transparency, user control, and cross-product AI experiences, while partnering closely with Product Leaders, Product Managers, Design, Engineering, and the AI Transformation Office.

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of product strategy, UX leadership, systems thinking, enterprise transformation, and AI fluency, with the ability to influence across organizations and turn emerging AI interaction concepts into practical enterprise standards.

This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office presence and telecommute/virtual work, to be based from either Houston or Dallas, TX.
Key Responsibilities

Define Enterprise AI Experience Standards

  • Establish and govern enterprise-wide Human-AI interaction principles across all AI solutions
  • Create scalable frameworks and reusable patterns that ensure consistency and reduce cognitive load
  • Ensure standards are practical, adaptable, and evolve with advancing AI capabilities

Lead Interaction Design & Experience Architecture

  • Define frameworks for selecting the right interaction modality (conversational, embedded, automated, agentic)
  • Guide Product and Design teams on applying interaction models based on user needs, workflow complexity, and risk
  • Drive low-friction, workflow-integrated experiences using usability insights and adoption data

Drive Human-AI Collaboration Models

  • Define patterns for human-AI collaboration, including supervision, approval, delegation, escalation, and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Enable seamless cross-product experiences and workflow handoffs between users and AI systems
  • Standardize visibility into tasks, ownership, workflow state, and system performance

Establish Trust, Transparency & Control

  • Set standards for explainability, autonomy signaling, and user control
  • Ensure users understand how AI is operating (assist, recommend, automate, act) and when intervention is required
  • Define patterns for approvals, overrides, escalation, and responsible decision-making
  • Continuously refine trust and control models based on user behavior and operational feedback

Influence Product Strategy & Governance

  • Advise Product, Design, and Engineering leaders on AI experience design and alignment to enterprise standards
  • Balance consistency and governance with product flexibility and innovation
  • Translate industry trends and internal learnings into actionable frameworks and guidance
  • Help shape the enterprise approach to "UI for AI" across systems and workflows

Measure, Evolve & Scale Adoption

  • Define and track metrics to evaluate adoption and effectiveness of AI experience standards
  • Identify friction points, inconsistencies, and trust gaps across AI-enabled experiences
  • Evolve standards through continuous feedback, insights, and best practices
  • Build playbooks, frameworks, and governance mechanisms to drive consistent adoption
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree plus at least 10 years of product management, UX strategy, enterprise platform design, digital experience architecture, experience, including 2 years of leadership experience driving cross-functional strategy through influence and governance, or demonstrated equivalent experience and education.
  • Demonstrated experience defining enterprise-wide standards, frameworks, or operating models across multiple products or platforms.
  • Strong understanding of AI-enabled product experiences, including conversational AI, workflow automation, analytics-driven interfaces, and emerging agentic systems.
  • Experience partnering across Product, Design, Engineering, Operations, and transformation or governance organizations.
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguity into scalable frameworks, decision models, and reusable patterns.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and guide distributed product teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing or governing Human-AI interaction models in a large enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI governance, responsible AI, and trust-centered experience design.
  • Experience in workflow systems, productivity tools, operational platforms, or enterprise knowledge systems.
  • Strong systems-thinking capability with the ability to design across products rather than within a single application.
  • Experience building design patterns, playbooks, or review frameworks adopted across multiple teams.
  • Knowledge of industry trends in agentic AI, AI copilots, enterprise automation, and digital employee experience.
Additional Information
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position
