Job Duties and Responsibilities

Engineer III – Manufacturing sought by Hughes Network Systems LLC. in Germantown, MD

Perform a role in the overall planning, development, implementation and maintenance of the methods, systems and operational sequences required for the optimal production of the products necessary for the company's operations in the satellite broadband data networks industry (electronics manufacturing/ SMT industry). Plan, and implement time and motion studies on specific portions of assembly line and manufacturing systems to identify opportunities to reduce production cycle times; analyze resulting data and prepare recommendations for production changes to company managers. Plan and implement processes to collect production data from Inspection Systems (AO1); analyze collected data to identify recurring component defects and design engineering solutions to eliminate the source of the recurring defects in future builds of production machinery and production processes. Interface with engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Estimate manufacturing cost, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling process requirements for new or existing product lines. Work with business and production design teams to formulate a manufacturing process for new products and improve process for Surface Mount Technology for Aero Product Line. Work with equipment designers and manufacturing to develop a cost-effective process for new products; improve manufacturing and production process to increase productivity. Research and purchase new manufacturing technology and implement and transition new technology. Train and mentor junior level engineers and technicians regarding the organization's SOPs and best practices for production engineering in the satellite broadband network industry domain [Including IPC Training]. Represent the manufacturing team at department level meetings to report on production activities and bottlenecks, project initiatives, and project timelines.


Skills, Experience and Requirements

Requires: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field plus 2 years of experience in job offered or similar roles. Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following (which may have been gained concurrently):

  • SAP
  • CNC Machine Programing – SMT
  • AutoCAD & Solidworks
  • Web Intelligence; and
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $99,633.11/Year - $99,633.11/Year
