Job Summary:
Hughes is a company that builds solutions to help families and communities stay connected. They are seeking a Principal Engineer II to define, design, and administer network systems for data communications, ensuring the performance and reliability of the network system while leading the development of observability platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Define, design, and administer network systems used for data communications.
• Recommend improvements necessary to ensure operation of the company’s high traffic, business critical, and internet production environment.
• Manage the load configuration of a central data communication processor.
• Propose and implement network system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the network system.
• Apply capacity planning to business recommendations.
• Address performance analysis, scalability, and service architecture/database administration issues.
• Coordinate equipment orders including terminals and cable installation.
• Upgrade, monitor, test, and service the database and systems.
• Lead the development of our next generation observability platforms.
• Drive the effort to fully integrate current and existing ITSM platforms into network service management systems.
• Represent divisional Data Governance compliance and strategic data architecture/pipeline planning.
• Guide engineering development of support applications to ensure stable long term integrations.
• Lead architectural efforts to ensure design for scale is incorporated.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field plus 10 years of experience in job offered or similar roles.
• 10 years of experience in C++/Java; TCP/IP, HTTP, SSH, and various networking protocol stacks.
• Experience must include 3 years in DNS.
• Experience must include 3 years in Zabbix NMS platform.
• Experience must include 3 years in Distributed containerized architecture.
• Experience must include 3 years in API integrations.
• Experience must include 3 years in Device and appliance management.
• Experience must include 3 years in Custom monitoring plugins.
• Experience must include 3 years in SNMP, COBRA, SOAP and XML.
• Experience must include 3 years in Kafka and MQTT.
