SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Specification Sales Engineer works directly with end users, consultants, and architects to capture design requirements as well as promote NewBasis products throughout the country and even the world.

The Specification Sales Engineer will be responsible for gaining specifications and approvals for NewBasis products in the market. This individual will gain approvals for DOT, Utility and Municipalities. They will work with the responsible staff to ensure NewBasis acquires an approval or is put on specification. This individual is responsible for product training for internal and external audiences such as distribution, contractors, or engineers. This position requires basic engineering knowledge and strong communication skills to be able to identify and make recommendations on product solutions. Candidates will have to work with and maintain communication with all levels of sales including distribution, reps, and end users. Candidate will maintain relationship(s) with specifier(s) long term to anticipate potential specification changes or new product requirements or advancements.

The Specification Sales Engineer will perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate with Outside Sales and Manufacturer’s representatives on travel plans to customer sites, prepare submittals, introductions, and demonstrations for approval.
  • Write Territory and National specifications for all NewBasis Polymer Pull Boxes with a focus on copper and fiber end to end solutions.
  • Obtain, examine, interpret engineering drawings, specifications, create drawings (Solidworks) for submittal accompanied with specifications, part numbers other supporting documentation as needed.
  • Engage with Channel/Distribution end user sales reps to design, specify NewBasis pull boxes and pads, develop strategy for territory targets and priorities.
  • Engage with end user customers and prospects, contractors, and/or consulting, engineering, architectural firms to provide product trainings, demonstrations, technical resources as needed to specify Hubbell Premise Wiring on end user projects.
  • Engage Datacom and Electrical contractors to assist with design/build and competitive bid opportunities.
  • Engage existing product/project specifications in defined or targeted region to have NewBasis approved as supplier.
  • Coordinate with local Territory Managers for project opportunities, assist as needed, develop strategies for territory targets and priorities.
  • Workin with VP of Sales, coordinate on project opportunities, priorities, results, planning.
  • Utilize CRM (Syspro) to manage activity, progress and index specification efforts.
  • Ability to Travel up to 40%

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS amp; ABILITIES

  • A minimum of 2 plus years’ experience in the construction of building materials sector
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn, grow, and effectively handle ambiguity and change
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs, CRM systems and 3D CAD Software (Solidworks)
  • Strong bias toward action and self-driven
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Very high computer IQ with proficiency in Microsoft Office with SYSPRO highly desirable
  • Travel 30-50% to maintain relationships with contractors, distributors, and specifiers

LOCATION

No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. This person would work in the office at the factory in Riverside California. Sometime will be spent traveling throughout the country as needed.
