Description
The Bakery Department Manager will manage the Bakery Department by providing our valued customers with fresh bakery to include breads, rolls, doughnuts, muffins, cookies, cakes and other pastries. All duties will be performed in a manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative's mission and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve customers throughout the store while modeling a service-oriented culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, and thanking every guest for their business.
  • Promote a positive culture an ensure effective communication.
  • Responsible for thorough and consistent training and leadership of Bakery employees while following proper food handling procedures.
  • Manage bakery labor goals by creating employee schedules to maximize production.
  • Review production schedule to determine quantity and variety of goods to bake.
  • Promotion planning to include advertised and in-store specials along with seasonal events.
  • Maintain inventory levels, place weekly order and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Assist store management in preparing the departmental budget, profit and loss reviews and take appropriate cation on financial reports.
  • Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling.
  • Ensure that the bakery department is always full and fresh with the best quality products.
  • Walk department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times.
  • Assist to create attractive department displays and end caps based on specific sales for the week.
  • Use all equipment in the bakery including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, proofers, mixers, etc. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures.
  • Report to work at the assigned/scheduled time and may be required to fill in as needed in other customer facing roles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
Food Safety Certification required within 90 days of employment
Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Capable of learning and retaining product knowledge and their location in the store.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written directions in regard to paperwork and daily reporting
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, management, and vendors
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift, twist, bend, stoop, squat, stand, reach, pull, push and lift overhead.
  • Must be patient and helpful to exceed the customer's expectations.

Working Conditions
  • Position requires this candidate to work 40 hour per week in this full-time position.
  • Schedule includes weekends and holidays, flexibility is essential.
  • Smoke-free environment
  • Primarily indoor work but at times may be exposed to heat/cool outdoor temperatures as well as when entering coolers.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring standing up to 8 hours per day.
