Seeking an energetic, people-focused, self-motivated, organized Human Resources Generalist!


The Human Resources Generalist supports the organization's day-to-day HR operations across multiple locations, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee records, compliance, and staff support. This position serves as a resource for employee HR questions, coordinates background checks, MVRs, terminations, evaluations, and investigations, and assists with developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures. The HR Generalist also supports benefits enrollment and vendor relationships, participates in professional development, and provides organizational support through Board and committee meetings, special events, meeting preparation, and other administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, professional, and committed to providing responsive and positive service to employees, leadership, and external partners.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree is required, or prefer a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of HR experience (generalist, coordinator, or similar) is required.
  • SHRM Certification highly preferred.
  • Experience with benefits administration, recruitment, and HRIS systems strongly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of HR best practices, recruitment, and basic employment law (as applicable to North Dakota and Minnesota).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to accuracy and confidentiality in handling HR and employee data.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits systems (e.g., Bamboo, Employee Navigator, Blue Cross Blue Shield portals, WEX, LEAP) and Microsoft 365/Teams.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, external vendors, and Board members.

Work Environment & Other Requirements

  • Full-time, onsite position based in Fargo/West Fargo with some responsibility for Wahpeton. Travel required; must maintain a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Occasional early morning, evening, or special-event hours for Board meetings, Red River meetings/activities, or open enrollment activities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
