Your Opportunity: The Herff Jones Human Resources team is looking for a HR Generalist to join our Indianapolis HR team. This position will report to the HR Manager.
What You'll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:
  • Partner with Plant leadership to understand business priorities by attending weekly meetings, daily GEMBA, 1v1s, etc.
  • Provide coaching and consultation to leaders on employee relations practices necessary to maintain a positive employment relationship. Conduct investigations, as needed.
  • Act as the liaison for unemployment, workers compensation, and the workers comp insurance carrier.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and coordinate employee engagement initiatives and events.
  • Support the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development plans.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and employee files.
  • Prepare HR reports and analyze HR metrics to support decision-making.
  • Support employee training and development programs, recruiting and onboarding, and employee terminations.
  • Maintain state and federal compliance relating to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEOC standards.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs.
  • Assist with payroll, timesheets and verification.
  • Other HR-related tasks as assigned.

What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • Demonstrated understanding of core HR competencies - Employee Relations, Compensation and Benefits, Recruiting and Retention, Talent Management and Organizational Development, Performance Management, Compliance, EHS & Risk Management, and Change Management.
  • Superior problem-solving abilities and abilities to motivate/influence others.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of initiative and attention to detail.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities and workload requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient using HRIS Systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Eagerness to continually learn and advance in business acumen/HR development.

Education / Certifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • 3+ years progressive HR management/generalist experience required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
  • Active SHRM/HR certification preferred, or willing to become certified within 6 months.
  • Working knowledge of all State and Federal labor laws.

Physical Requirements:
  • Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
  • Reading, communication, math.
  • Working at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above
