Job description

Title: Vmware Server Admin

Location: Phoenix AZ (Onsite)
Type: Fulltime

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 environments.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for VMware, Nutanix, and Hyper-V infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors such as HPE, Nutanix, VMware, and Microsoft to resolve critical and high-priority server-related incidents.
  • Manage and support Windows Failover Clusters on Windows Server 2022 and 2025 platforms.
  • Perform HPE server maintenance activities, including SPP updates, firmware upgrades, and iLO upgrades.
  • Upgrade and patch VMware ESX/ESXi hosts using VMware Lifecycle Manager.
  • Execute Nutanix cluster upgrades and lifecycle management activities.
  • Build and deploy host infrastructure across VMware ESXi, Nutanix, and Hyper-V environments.
  • Administer Hyper-V infrastructures, including:
  • Hyper-V Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)
  • Hyper-V SAN-based clusters
  • Hyper-V standalone environments
  • Develop and utilize automation scripts to streamline infrastructure operations and administration tasks.
  • Perform Hyper-V (iBundle) patching activities in production environments while ensuring minimal business impact.
  • Upgrade and maintain VMware vCenter infrastructure in accordance with VMware best practices and recommendations.
  • Manage VMware virtualization technologies, including vMotion, Storage vMotion (SVMotion), High Availability (HA), and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS).
  • Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities across VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, and Windows environments.
  • Ensure service delivery excellence by managing operations in alignment with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Leverage PowerShell and Python scripting to automate processes, reporting, and operational activities.
  • Analyze incidents, address ticket backlogs, and proactively reduce SLA breaches.
  • Investigate recurring alerts, perform trend analysis, and implement Service Improvement Plans (SIP) to enhance platform stability and performance.
  • Monitor and manage incidents, requests, and changes through ServiceNow.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations, including after-hours and weekend maintenance and support activities.

Skills Required:

  • 10 - 12 years of experience in IT service delivery, preferably in core application support management.
  • Proven experience in high-volume environments such as call centres or technical support operations.
  • Strong background in triaging, ticket lifecycle management, and 24x7 support models.
  • Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive performance through metrics.
  • Experience in consulting, root cause analysis, and requirement documentation is a plus.
