Job description

We are seeking a Contract Mid-to-Senior WordPress Developer with expert-level Divi experience to assist with both new website builds and the optimization of our existing digital footprint. You will serve as our technical anchor, building high-performance websites from the ground up while simultaneously auditing, troubleshooting, and speeding up our legacy Divi platforms. This is a contract position. The candidate must be available to collaborate during core US Central Time (CST) business hours. Key Responsibilities New Builds: Develop responsive, clean, and modern websites from scratch using WordPress, Divi, and custom child themes. Legacy Optimization: Audit existing Divi sites to identify bloat, fix layout conflicts, improve Core Web Vitals, and drastically decrease page load times. Custom Code: Write clean PHP, JavaScript, and CSS/SASS to extend Divi's native capabilities and integrate third-party APIs. Design to Code: Experience building responsive Divi layouts. Database & Security: Optimize MySQL databases, clean up legacy plugin remnants, and ensure all sites are fully secure. Requirements and Qualifications Experience: 4+ years of professional WordPress development with a strong portfolio showcasing custom Divi implementations. Time Zone: Must be able to work and communicate effectively during US Central Time hours. Divi Mastery: Deep understanding of the Divi ecosystem, Theme Builder, library global items, and how to write custom CSS overrides without breaking the visual builder. Performance Expertise: Proven track record of optimizing heavy Divi code footprints, configuring advanced caching (WP Rocket, Redis), and optimizing imagery. Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (jQuery and Vanilla JS), HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and Git version control.
