Job description

Kaiser Aluminum Kalamazoo is looking for Maintenance Mechanics to join our team! This is a full-time opportunity with alternating 3 and 4-day work weeks, allowing an opportunity for increased work-life balance for our team members.
We are a highly automated, Best-In-Class aluminum casting and extrusion facility looking for safety conscious, collaborative, hardworking people who are interested in being a part of our continuous learning environment.   • Must be able to work night shift 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

What you will be working on in the role
  • Monitors all equipment to ensure reliability.
  • Repairs, installs, adjusts, modifies, and services all types of production equipment, plant instrumentation and relays.
  • Troubleshoots hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Reads ladder logic to troubleshoot.
  • Participates in the preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, 5S, and E.I. Teams
  • Completes work orders in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Participates on safety and 5S teams.
  • Maintains open communication with production technicians.
  • Provides support to other maintenance technicians.
  • Identifies and reports opportunities for improvement of PM's and spare parts controls.
  • Participates on Equipment Improvement Teams
  • Works within an environment focused on the reduction of unplanned downtime.
  • Works collaboratively with other functional areas to ensure accomplishment of overall plant objectives.
  • Applies lean manufacturing tools & principles in maintenance activities.
  • Performs autonomous care and housekeeping.
  • Documents spare parts usage
  • Works within scheduling requirements

What you will bring to the role
  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Journeyman status in skilled trades discipline (preferred but not required)
  • Associate's degree, or Certification in Electrical or Mechanical technology (preferred but not required)
  • 2 years manufacturing Maintenance Technician or control programming experience(required)
  • Multi-trade with industrial electrical experience
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment and on problem solving activities.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work all shifts.
