Job Description:

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking for a dynamic, passionate and collaborative leader to join our team as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Ponca State Park. As the Housekeeping Supervisor, you'll do more than just oversee cleaning operations, you'll help shape the visitor experience by ensuring our cabins and facilities are welcoming, comfortable, and maintained to the highest standards. You will lead and support a dedicated team, coordinate daily operations, and take pride in creating an environment where guests can relax and connect with nature. From mentoring staff to maintaining quality and efficiency, your leadership will directly impact every visitor's stay. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both leading a team and rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. JOB DUTIES:
Commercial Services: Provide oversight of weekly inventory needs, billing, quality control, and communication with commercial laundry and linen provider. Oversee inventory and ordering/purchasing of all housekeeping supplies and related equipment.
Personnel Management: Provide leadership, direction, management and supervision of all housekeeping and custodial staff. This will include staff recruitment, hiring, scheduling, and team development. Train staff in safe operation of equipment and use of cleaning chemicals, efficient and effective cleaning techniques, and customer service.
Planning and Development: Assist Superintendent with operational planning related to the park's housekeeping and custodial operations. Development of a year-round cleaning schedule based on staff, public use and industry standards.
Facility Maintenance: Assist maintenance department with occasional building maintenance projects such as painting, staining, snow removal, and other general maintenance.
Special Events and Programming: Assist Superintendent and other staff with local and regional planning and implementation of major park events. Periodically assist park's outdoor education team with programs and activities.
Other Duties as Required: Work involves a rotating schedule based on time of the year/park season that will involve weekends and holidays.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Experience in housekeeping or custodial work, and two years of experience in supervising assigned workers. OR Coursework/training in supervision, management or organization of custodial/housekeeping activities and processes and two years' experience in custodial/housekeeping work.

Other: Driver's license is required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the purpose of custodial/housekeeping operations and their relationship to other agency/facility units; federal, State, and other laws, codes, and regulations pertinent to operations assigned; the methods, equipment, chemicals, and other material used in custodial/housekeeping services; principles and practices of supervision of employees and management of work functions.
  • Ability to organize, schedule, guide, and evaluate work activities of assigned employees; coordinate custodial/housekeeping operations with other agency/facility operations; identify and implement courses of action to improve custodial/housekeeping operations; develop and implement employee performance and work standards; determine equipment and supply needs.
