SUB - Acute Residential Counselor - Adult Mental Health:
Provide support services to adults who have intensive needs that live in Howard Center short term or long-term residences. Ensure a safe, healthy, and functional environment while providing direct service to adult clients. In this position you could train to work in up to 5 acute-level residential/group homes, each one unique in population, structure and shifts.
A Substitute Acute Residential Counselor covers shifts due to vacancies and planned/unplanned time off and has the full responsibilities of an Acute Residential Counselor.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop healthy therapeutic relationships with adult residents
  • Manage, assess and adjust the social and physical environments to ensure appropriate supervision and crisis management
  • Support residents in creating and following safety plans and crisis plans
  • Assist residents with de-escalation and conflict mediation
  • Assist with program operations, staff training, and resident daily living functions, such as meal/menu preparation, household maintenance/organization and personal care
  • Conduct overall health monitoring and medication administration and/or oversight

Requirements:
  • Two years of combination in experience, skills and/or education working with adults that experience mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or another human services field
  • Valid driver's license and transportation

Structure:
  • Hours vary weekly
  • $22.75 an hour
