What is house framing?

A house framing job involves building the structural framework of a home, including walls, floors, and the roof. Framers use wood or metal materials to create a sturdy skeleton that supports the rest of the building. This job requires measuring, cutting, and assembling materials according to blueprints and building codes. House framing is a crucial step in construction, providing the foundation for electrical, plumbing, and finishing work. Skilled framers ensure the structure is level, secure, and ready for the next phase of construction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in house framing?

To thrive in House Framing, you need expertise in reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, and assembling structural frames, often gained through on-the-job experience or trade school education. Familiarity with power tools, hand tools, safety equipment, and sometimes OSHA certification is typically required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication are key soft skills for success in this role. These abilities ensure that framing work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to building codes and architectural plans.

What are some common challenges faced by house framers on the job?

Tight deadlines and coordination with other trades, like electricians and plumbers, require strong organizational and communication skills. Being flexible and proactive in solving on-site issues can make the job more rewarding and contribute to overall project success.

Job description

Front-of-House Team Leader (Full-Time)

Chick-fil-A Gateway - Lane County, OR

"Be part of Lane County's Most Caring Company-where great food is only the beginning."

Why this role matters

At the front counter, drive-thru window, and mobile hand-off chute, every "my pleasure," every eye-level smile, and every second we shave off wait time shapes how Lane County feels about Chick-fil-A. Front-of-House Team Leaders turn busy rushes into memorable moments-coaching Team Members to anticipate needs, recover missteps on the spot, and uphold spotless, welcoming spaces. By safeguarding speed, hospitality, and accuracy, you become the guardian of our brand's promise: remarkable service wrapped in genuine care.

What you'll get to do

Lead
  • Orchestrate the entire guest-facing arena-front counter, drive-thru, and mobile/dine-in hand-off
  • Set positions, breaks, and daily cleanliness rhythms so every Guest is greeted by a ready, smiling Team Member and a spotless lobby.
  • Own safety and atmosphere: temperature checks, slip-hazard sweeps, and a lobby vibe that feels like "home."
Coach
  • Model Second-Mile language & body language; train, evaluate, and celebrate Team Members through the SERVE framework (See the Future, Engage & Develop Others, Reinvent Continuously, Value Results & Relationships, Embody a Leader's Heart).
  • Run one-minute huddles each peak to spotlight hospitality wins, short-cycle feedback, and real-time guest-recovery plays.
  • Document infractions & kudos with the aim of turning every miscue into a comeback story.
Optimize
  • Speed of Service: Service that feels quick, but never rushed, 5 min start-to-finish
  • Hospitality & Cleanliness: maintain customer survey scores 2 points above the regional average.
  • Labor & Productivity: deploy "right-seat, right-time" staffing to hit sales-per-labor-hour while flexing for rushes.
  • Guest Recovery Loop: track code-red incidents and close the loop by EOD-every shift, every time.

Who you are

  • A servant-hearted leader with 3 + months as a certified Trainer (or equivalent leadership in QSR, catering, commissary, or military foodservice).
  • Calm under fire, decisive with data, and hungry for wisdom.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs, hustle on your feet, and work a flexible schedule (no Sundays).

What's in it for you

  • $20/hr starting (reviewed in 90 days).
  • Medical, dental, and 401(k) match.
  • Up to $25K in annual scholarships and leadership travel to the CFA Support Center.
  • Sundays off, predictable scheduling, free shift meals, and a people-first culture.
  • A clear runway to Shift Lead Supervisor Director-plus coaching from an Operator who invests in business-builders.
