Job description

Hogsalt is looking for a dedicated and experienced Full Time Wine Manager to join our team at our new Miami concept.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about upholding Hogsalt’s values of harmony, accountability, and resilience.  Successful Hogsalt leaders are enthusiastic about providing genuine hospitality to guests, and actively contribute to a collaborative and positive workplace culture.

We offer a full suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k), commuter benefits, dining rewards, and paid time off!

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years working in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a beverage program.
  • In-depth beverage knowledge, with particular expertise in wine, and a strong understanding of COGS management, including proven strategies for improving a beverage department's financial performance. Familiarity with how a beverage program contributes to a restaurant's overall P&L.
  • Ability to identify problems and be solution-oriented regarding service, beverage, and overall restaurant operations.
  • Must have open availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays; schedule subject to modification and/or approval by the Service Director or Vice President of Service & Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • This role primarily focuses on daily ordering & management of the wine program - but will include management of the entire beverage program at times.
  • This role does not include any menu development or menu content responsibilities.
  • Progress and refine all areas of service in the restaurant; this position will be actively working service up to 5 shifts per week.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed, including recruiting, hiring and training, 6-month employee reviews, progressive discipline, and any other employee documentation.
  • Communicate professionally and confidently with guests, employees, and leadership.
  • Complete general administrative tasks including opening and closing duties, cash handling, processing refunds, and maintaining restaurant facilities and supplies as needed.
  • Provide consistent coaching and support for all hourly employees, and possess the ability to fill into any FOH hourly position.
  • Progress all aspects of the restaurant’s beverage program, including:
    • Create and follow weekly, monthly, and quarterly forecasting, utilizing these forecasts to execute weekly beverage inventories and orders and maintain up to date order guides.
    • Execute all beverage-related administrative duties (invoice management, physical and digital menu maintenance, correct pricing on menus and in POS system).
  • Hold all team members accountable for the cleanliness and organization of all beverage storage areas (liquor/wine room, wine coolers, keg coolers, bars, etc.).
  • Coordinate all beverage-related training for front of house staff, including updating training materials and fostering ongoing education for employees.

Hogsalt is not your typical restaurant group.  Guests know us for transportive spaces and sumptuous fare, but what we are most proud of is the generosity we extend to our teams.  Our service team reimagines hospitality with energy and a sense of fun.  Our culinary team makes classic dishes so expertly that you'll remember why they became classics.  No matter which of our 20+ restaurants you visit, you'll see we're an organization that makes people — our guests and ourselves — happy.
