Job Title: Lead Material Handler

Under the leadership of the assigned Operations Supervisor or Logistics Manager, the Lead Material Handler is a member of the Donated Goods Retail Operations team and is tasked with the daily operation of the plant and processed product, material handles, provides excellent customer service, and assists in other areas as assigned. This position will also assist in training, development, and helping identify opportunities for the personal and professional growth of team members, clients, and volunteers in support of Goodwill's mission.

Job Type: Part-time

Hourly Rate: $14.25 per hour

Shift:

  • 8-hour shift, scheduled for 40-hours per week
  • Weekend availability
Essential Functions:
  • Safely transport and unload goods within the warehouse using material handling equipment; ensure proper handling and processing of incoming donations in compliance with Goodwill policies.
  • Sort donations following company guidelines, bale salvageable items appropriately, and identify items that need separate processing.
  • Meet production standards for sorting, pricing, and stocking; rotate products regularly, and track donations and production using basic calculations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a positive attitude, ensuring a great experience for customers and donors while adhering to Goodwill policies and procedures.
  • Train and develop team members, assist with warehouse security, and notify management of inventory concerns.
  • Perform janitorial duties, work flexible hours, and assist with other tasks as needed, ensuring punctuality and dependability.
What You'll Bring:
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, with flexibility to accommodate diverse communication styles and abilities, ensuring inclusive engagement with the public, department staff, and individuals with varying needs.
  • Employment offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a drug test and criminal background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Physical requirements include the ability to twist, bend, squat, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, and pull. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds (common items include, but are not limited to, bags of clothes/miscellaneous items, televisions, computers, sofas, kitchen appliances, bicycles and bedroom sets).

Working environment is indoors with occasional exposure to outside temperatures, and will work around occupational allergens, both air and contact, including but not limited to dust, animal hair and dander, perfumes, and mold. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
