PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members - 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The purpose of this position is to participate in the operation of all units and perform preventive maintenance and basic mechanical and electrical maintenance activities at the McIntosh Plant facilities and assist with installation, calibration, and troubleshooting of plant instruments, controllers and actuators at the CAES facility. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. The applicant must make an acceptable score on the pre-employment placement exercise. The incumbent must successfully participate in the Power Production Employee Training and Development Program curriculum. Working conditions include working twelve (12) hour rotating shifts.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the safe operation of the combustion turbines, CAES Plant and associated auxiliaries including reading, recording, and interpreting plant instrumentation and making adjustments as needed.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and assists in basic mechanical and electrical maintenance of the McIntosh facilities and CAES facility.
  • Performs routine inspections of the McIntosh facilities and CAES facility to detect abnormal conditions or conditions that require repairs.
  • Assist with installation and calibration of plant instrumentation, controllers and actuators at the CAES facility.
  • Assist with troubleshooting in plant instrumentation, controllers and actuators at the CAES facility.
  • Successfully participates in and completes classroom and on-the-job training including observation of safety rules and practices and environmental compliance guidelines, maintaining a clean work area and identifying potential problems and hazards required for the positions and assists in training other Plant Technicians as required.
