Job description

Certified Cardio Sonographer

Compensation: $45.00 – $48.50 per hour (Up to $50.00/hr for highly experienced candidates) + Full Benefits Package

Job Type: Full-Time | Day Shift

Travel: 100% Local Market Float (Providing coverage across six designated Chicago area centers)

Location: Chicago Metro Area, IL

We have partnered closely with a rapidly expanding, innovative healthcare organization that is truly changing lives every day—for both their patients and their team members. They do things differently than most primary care groups, building an entrepreneurial, high-energy, and compassionate environment. If you possess an exceptional work ethic, clinical ambition, and a warm nature that inspires others, you will thrive within this team.

We are seeking a versatile, certified Cardiac Sonographer for a high-impact Market Float position. In this role, you will play a critical part in patient care by rotating across six primary care centers in the greater Chicago area, utilizing sophisticated high-frequency ultrasound equipment to record cardiac images and support accurate patient diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform advanced echocardiography and diagnostic cardiac procedures using proper ultrasound techniques, producing clean images utilizing two-dimensional imaging, spectral, and color flow Doppler.
  • Select the proper transducer and calibrate equipment controls dynamically based on the subject organ(s) to be examined, depth of field, and specific test parameters.
  • Explain ultrasound procedures clearly to senior patients and their families, obtain formal consent when needed, and address clinical concerns to ensure a comfortable experience. Assist with patient transport to and from the exam room.
  • Input test data and patient information into the computerized documentation system. Generate detailed preliminary reports of findings for the reading physician, ensuring STAT findings are communicated immediately per clinical protocols.
  • Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided biopsies and/or invasive clinical procedures as required.
  • Maintain and monitor equipment once a month according to manufacturer instructions. Actively influence and help create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for internal ultrasound best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school in Ultrasound Technology required. A Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • Must possess at least one of the following active certifications:
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
  • (Note: RCS credentials will also be considered for echocardiograms).
  • A minimum of one (1) year of dedicated, post-grad Cardiac Sonographer work experience is strictly required. 2+ years of experience is highly preferred.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required (or must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment).
  • Absolute willingness and reliable means of transportation to float daily between the 6 designated Chicago area centers.
  • Ability to perform physical work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and safely lifting patients and/or clinical equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, decisive clinical judgment, and the ability to work seamlessly with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits:

  • Premium health, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and company-recognized paid holidays.
  • Robust retirement plan with an employer match program.
  • Strong, supportive clinical infrastructure with a highly collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Dedicated professional development support and continuous learning pathways.

Salary: The posted range represents the base hourly rate. The actual hourly rate will be determined by the candidate's exact credentials, certifications, and depth of post-grad clinical experience.

If you're excited about the potential of this role, we'd love to hear from you!
