About this Job **This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA** Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics Job Focus Area The Division of Assessments, Accountability, and Analytics leads the collection, analysis, and strategic use of data to inform decision-making at all levels of birth-12 leadership to drive student success. If we believe that all students can achieve, then we must measure their progress to ensure they remain on track for the next grade level and, ultimately, for college and professional careers. This Education Research Analyst (ERA) position is located within the Office of Assessments, Accountability and Analytics - Data Strategy & Governance division as part of the Data Quality team.

The ERA will engage in advanced research, evaluation, and data analysis projects that influence the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) policy, initiatives, and strategic planning, as well as support the LDOE systems data collection and data consolidation activities required for educational planning. This includes oversight and management of multiple LDOE Statewide systems and assisting with application enhancements and modifications to given systems, communication and training with all of the Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and associated contacts, and ensuring that the data is as error-free and correct as possible once a system collection closes. This position provides highly technical assistance and advice to LDOE staff and LEAs regarding relevant data and data submissions.

This position also acts as a Departmental data representative, as necessary, through written and oral communications. Applicants with the following experience are encouraged to apply: The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and practical application of SQL, SAS, R, and Python programming, as well as experience with Microsoft Access, data analysis, and dashboard development. Minimum Qualifications A master's degree in education, statistics, mathematics, or in a data analytics, data management, information technology, or social sciences field.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: As an Education Research Analyst 1, 2, or 3, you will: Serves as a technical liaison for the Department for Education and recommends new and emerging development strategies, data collection methods, and products as relates to Departmental goals and strategies. Provides technical consulting on data collection and cleansing approaches, procedures, and polices.

Collaborates with staff and administration to design, test, pilot, and implement statewide data collections. Serves as a technical consultant to various management levels within the Department for various educational, financial, and institutional programs. Extracts and summarizes mission and/or program critical data for information analysis, verification, and/or interpretation.

Distillates data from key databases for use in PC-based software systems as required. Participates in quality assurance reviews of LDOE systems, data, and documentation. Works collaboratively with Data Systems and Reporting teams to develop and implement edit checks, ensuring better data at the point of entry.

Develops technical training materials, system user guides for LEAs and non-public schools, and data element dictionaries. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to report to the Baton Rouge office as requested.

Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected. Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Education Research Analyst 1/2/3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Work Schedule: Workdays are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Education Research Analyst 2 (TS-311) Hourly: $26.32 - $40.45 Monthly: $4,561.27 - $7,011.00 Annually: $54,735.20 - $84,136.00 Education Research Analyst 3 (TS-313) Hourly: $30.13 - $46.31 Monthly: $5,221.67 - $8,027.00 Annually: $62,660.00 - $96,325.00 **Note regarding the advertised pay range: Beginning at the Education Research Analyst 1 level, this series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $22.98/hour that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions
