THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking Inside Sales Representatives to sell our classroom magazine. They are responsible for driving sales growth and supporting schools and districts in achieving literacy goals and initiatives through our Scholastic Magazine resources. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong partnerships with teachers, principals, and district leaders; identifying customer needs; and providing consultative support to align Scholastic Magazines+ with their current curriculum and standards. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, management of territory accounts, and a passion for supporting literacy and student achievement growth.

The hourly base range for this position is $21 to $22.15 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage an assigned territory of school and district accounts to achieve or exceed sales goals

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, principals, and district leaders to understand their current/future literacy and learning priorities.

  • Conduct needs assessments and align Scholastic Magazines+ to current curriculum and standards

  • Upsell and cross-sell other titles when appropriate to generate new business.

  • Host online product demonstrations/implementation webinars using virtual platforms.

  • Understand product line and technology components to recommend and demonstrate magazines that fit customer needs.

  • Gain knowledge/stay informed of terminology and current trends in education, including funding opportunities, and state or district initiatives.

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture that reflects Scholastic's mission and values.

  • Meet or exceed activity, lead generation, and pipeline goals.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of proven successful sales experience in district/territory sales, event management, personal selling, and customer service.

  • Proficiency with MS Office software; experience with Sales Automation, Customer Relationship Management or Web-based software programs.

  • Ability to execute a vision, manage multiple priorities, and achieve results.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including oral presentation skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills with peers, superiors (across functions and throughout the company), and customers.
