Position Summary:
The Hourly Research Analyst is an integral part of the Institutional Research team. This role is responsible for data management, analysis, and reporting. The position is hourly-based and works for up to 20 hours during the school year, and up to 35 hours over the summer. The Hourly Research Analyst will collaborate on a variety of research initiatives, data analysis tasks, and reporting projects while contributing to research publications based on outcomes.
Essential Functions:
-Assists in collecting, organizing, and analyzing institutional data for various projects and reports.
-Supports the generation of statistical reports, charts, and graphs for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and precision in presenting data.
-Contributes to survey reporting and data collection efforts, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.
-Responds to data requests from various departments and external agencies, ensuring accurate and efficient data delivery.
-Collaborates closely with the Institutional Research team on a range of analysis projects, with a focus on actionable insights for institutional decision-making.
-Participates in research projects, contributing to research publications and presentations based on findings.
-Provides assistance with administrative tasks and special projects as needed within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
-Any additional responsibilities as required by management.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Master's degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
-Proficiency in SQL (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL) and data analysis tools such as Python, R, or SAS.
-Detail-oriented, with a commitment to data accuracy, quality, and integrity.
-Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment, contributing to team goals and sharing knowledge.
-Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, MicroStrategy) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
-Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to apply data analysis methods to real-world scenarios.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Prior experience or coursework in data analysis, quantitative research, or a related field.
-Familiarity with research methodologies and data collection techniques.
-Interest in higher education policies, practices, and trends, with a desire to contribute to institutional research efforts.
Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate/range for this position is $25.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
