Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced RN Case Manager for a travel assignment in San Pedro, California.
This role supports an acute care hospital case management team focused on utilization review, care coordination, and discharge planning for adult and geriatric patients.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This assignment is ideal for experienced inpatient Case Managers who are confident managing high caseloads, coordinating care across interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring appropriate utilization of healthcare resources in a fast-paced acute care environment.
ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
13-week contract
Day shift 5x8s (08:00-16:30)
Weekend requirement: every other weekend
Patient ratio approximately 1:15
Adult and geriatric population
1 position available
COMPENSATION
Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. Each compensation package is customized and may include taxable hourly wages along with tax-free stipends when applicable.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform utilization review using InterQual criteria
Coordinate patient care and discharge planning
Conduct admission and continued stay reviews
Determine medical necessity based on evidence-based guidelines
Facilitate prior authorizations and insurance coordination
Coordinate DME and post-acute care services
Develop and manage individualized care plans
Collaborate with physicians, social services, and interdisciplinary teams
Ensure compliance with CMS and regulatory requirements
Document case management activity in Epic EMR

Acute care hospital
Case management and utilization review department
82-bed facility
Daily census approximately 50-55 patients
Epic charting system

Requirements

Minimum 2 years acute care hospital Case Manager RN experience REQUIRED
Experience must include care coordination, utilization review, and discharge planning (HARD STOP)
InterQual experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
Epic experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
Case management experience in California REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
Must have acute care experience including MS, MS/Tele, ICU, and some ER exposure
Travel experience REQUIRED (seasoned traveler preferred)
CA RN license REQUIRED (must be in hand)
