As the RN Director/Manager of Nursing Services in a hospital, you will oversee the operations of one or more nursing departments, ensuring that patient care is provided safely, effectively, and in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices. You will lead nursing teams, manage resources, and implement strategies to optimize patient outcomes and improve the quality of care across units.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for nursing staff in assigned departments, including recruitment, training, mentoring, and performance management to foster a high-performing and compassionate team
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with the hospital's mission, vision, and strategic objectives
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, state and federal regulations), maintaining a high level of quality and safety in patient care
  • Monitor patient outcomes and quality indicators, identifying trends, and implementing evidence-based practices to improve care and reduce adverse events
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, social workers, therapists, etc.) to coordinate patient care and resolve complex clinical issues
  • Manage staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation within nursing departments, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and efficient use of resources to meet patient care needs
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives by leading quality assurance programs, patient safety initiatives, and process optimization projects
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care, nursing interventions, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and hospital requirements
  • Foster a culture of patient safety, advocating for patient-centered care and promoting best practices in infection control, pain management, and clinical protocols
  • Address and resolve patient complaints or concerns, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction and quality of care

The ideal candidate must have at least 3-5 years of clinical experience and at least 1 year as an RN Director/Manager. Additionally, they should possess a current BLS certification and be eligible for State licensure. Additional certifications may be required.

RN Director/Managers should be able to stand or walk for long periods and must be able to bend, stoop, and lift with proper body mechanics. The ideal RN Director/Manager has a deep commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and nursing education.
