Job description

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a full-time Associate Hospital Epidemiologist and Infectious Diseases Physician. This faculty position supports infection prevention, hospital epidemiology, and inpatient infectious diseases consult services at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to patient care, education, research, and quality improvement within a collaborative academic health system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient Infectious Diseases consultative care (approximately 50% clinical effort)
  • Teach fellows, residents, medical students, and pharmacy students
  • Partner with Hospital Epidemiologist and Infection Prevention leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention programs and policies
  • Lead surveillance, outbreak investigations, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with public health agencies
  • Advise hospital leadership on infection prevention, patient safety, quality, and emergency preparedness
  • Support research, performance improvement initiatives, and regional/national collaborative projects
  • Participate in Infection Prevention Committee leadership and Infection Prevention call coverage
  • Collaborate across departments to strengthen infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship efforts

Compensation

  • Compensation range from $250,000 to $350,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Requirements

  • MD or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified in Infectious Diseases
  • Eligible for or licensed to practice medicine in New York
  • Experience in adult Infectious Diseases
  • Expertise in infection prevention and/or antimicrobial stewardship preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of academic teaching experience (residency/fellowship level)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Epic experience preferred
