Parks Maintenance Worker - Golf

Milwaukee County Parks

Hourly Pay Range: $21.30 - $31.92

Job Summary: Park Maintenance Workers are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of golf courses to ensure quality facilities and amenities and a safe environment. This position will also preserve and enhance department assets and ensure quality service and product delivery.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools related to the performance of job duties.
  • Maintain golf green space by mowing, trimming, fertilization, aerification, seeding, weeding, planting, mulching, irrigation, and more.
  • Work on natural areas of golf courses.
  • Maintain buildings and facilities such as pavilions, shelters, service yards, clubhouses, and pool buildings by performing general cleaning, rental set up, waxing and stripping floors, graffiti removal, inspection, building and repairing picnic tables, and more.
  • Maintain golf course roadways, drives, parking lots, and pathways by cold patching, line striping, cleaning catch basins, snow removal, salting, and more.
  • Maintain and operate a variety of golf course assets.
  • Participate on special project teams and community outreach efforts.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:­­­­­­­

  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Grounds, Landscape, or Park Maintenance experience.
  • Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of start date.
  • Willing and able to obtain a Class B CDL within six (6) months of start date.
  • Willing and able to obtain a 3.0 Pesticide license within three (3) months of start date.
  • Willing and able to work weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of an Associate Degree or higher in Parks and Recreation, Horticulture, Agronomy, or Turf Management.
  • Possession of a Class B CDL.

 

 

NOTE:  This original application is open to permanent residents of the state of Wisconsin at the time of application. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
