Job description

Schedule: Part-time, with the opportunity to become full-time
Compensation: Hourly or salary-based pay, plus performance bonuses and project commissions


Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and carefully review architectural and structural plans.
  • Identify the complete rough carpentry scope of work.
  • Perform accurate material and quantity takeoffs.
  • Prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Use Bluebeam, PlanSwift, STACK, or similar takeoff software.
  • Develop project schedules and plan daily carpentry activities.
  • Coordinate material orders, deliveries, labor, and equipment.
  • Supervise carpentry crews and ensure work follows approved plans.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, safety, schedule, and project costs.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, general contractors, suppliers, and field teams.
  • Identify plan conflicts, missing information, and potential change orders.
  • Maintain progress reports and help complete projects on time and within budget.


Required Qualifications:

  • Strong rough carpentry and wood-framing experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of architectural and structural plan reading.
  • Experience with material takeoffs, quantity takeoffs, and construction pricing.
  • Ability to estimate labor hours and develop workable schedules.
  • Familiarity with lumber, engineered wood products, hardware, fasteners, sheathing, and framing systems.
  • Experience supervising and coordinating field crews.
  • Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Resourceful and able to locate materials, labor, suppliers, and practical solutions.
  • Understanding of construction safety, quality-control requirements, and California building practices.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
