Job description

This is a part time role with the opportunity to extend to full time.

Role Overview
The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and supporting project profitability. This role blends general accounting oversight with financial controls, budgeting, cash flow management, and investment capital strategy.

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Provide forecasting models, market analysis, and executive reports to the company founder.
  • Forecast cash flow to anticipate payment cycles, manage accounts payable/receivable, and maintain liquidity.
  • Monitor and report budget variances to the company founder for corrective action.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including coordination with subcontractors and vendors.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Improve financial processes, systems, and data flow for accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years in accounting/finance, preferably in construction or project-based industries.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of construction accounting principles, job costing, invoicing/billing preferred.
