Job description

Overview of BLOC:
We are an inner-city ministry that lives and works in the neighborhoods we serve. Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 70 where we have after school programs, a sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, two coffee shops, screen printing, equine assisted learning, an immigrant welcome center, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors.
Horses on the Hill (HOTH)
HOTH is a trauma-informed wellness center that provides
Nature-Based and Equine Assisted Learning for experiential learning, growth, and healing. We exist to serve economically disadvantaged youth and their families as well as individuals in recovery. We strive to create a relaxed and non-judgemental environment for our clientele to feel safe and meet their goals. Farm Hands will help create and maintain the desired environment by caring for the equine's physical and behavioral needs as well as maintenance of the property.
Ideal hours:
Monday - Friday 9-12 PM
Primary responsibilities:
• Assisting in maintaining equine management procedures (diet, exercise, turn out, etc.) as well as
procedures for building/ grounds upkeep.
• Helps to maintain general cleanliness around the barn.
• Supports Barn Manager in coordination of volunteers including overseeing mission groups and
individual volunteer responsibilities.
• Supports Programs Director and Group Facilitator(s) in providing safe and educational
experiences for our community such as field trips, Wellness Workshops, and Job Training groups.
• Attends regular meetings with the Barn Manager to review responsibilities.
• Attends monthly HOTH team meetings and All Staff Meetings/Trainings at least once a quarter to
stay well-informed and understand the culture/movement of the mission.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPPA Laws and Regulations if present during sessions with
clientele.
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
• Willingness to raise support for ministry and/or personal salary.
• Flexibility and willingness to assist where needed.
• Agree and comply with BLOC employee handbook
Required skills and experience:
• Skilled in use of tools and equipment
• 3+ years of equine experience.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Skilled in time management, communication and organization
• Must be self-aware, teachable, and work well in a highly relational team environment • Able to instruct and enforce rules, guidelines and structure
• Pass background checks
• Able bodied and capable of lifting 50+ pounds.
