Job description

Tractor Trailer Mechanic
Location: Salisbury, NC
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: Up to $32 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Tractor Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining converter dollies and trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation. If you have experience with preventative maintenance, and DOT compliance, we want to hear from you. Our shop in Salisbury is actively seeking a motivated trailer mechanic with a minimum of 5 years of experience working on dry van trailers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on converter dollies and trailers (Bumper to Bumper Pms and repairs)
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Repair and replace components including brakes, air systems, and suspensions
  • ABS service including diagnostics
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Roll doors and welding experience
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records
  • Perform roadside repairs when necessary (if applicable)
  • Keep work area clean and organized

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of tractor trailer systems and diagnostics
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and inspections
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and shop equipment
  • Must have own tools
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical

Preferred Skills
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Electrical troubleshooting and wiring repair
  • Experience with fleet maintenance software
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
