Job description

Job Summary

Koch Applied Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Master / Lead Service Technician to support our service operations across commercial and industrial boiler systems. This role is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing boiler, burner, and control systems, as well as leading field service technicians and ensuring exceptional service delivery to customers. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in a safety-focused environment.

Essential Responsibilities

   Perform startup, inspection, maintenance, and repair of:

   Boilers (steam and hot water)

   Burners and combustion systems

   Controls and instrumentation

    Boiler room auxiliary equipment (deaerators, blowdown separators, feedwater tanks, water softeners, chemical systems, etc.)

   Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and conduct root cause analysis to

determine appropriate repairs

   Identify, source, and order necessary replacement parts

   Execute system calibration according to manufacturer specifications

    Communicate findings, recommendations, and operational improvements clearly to customers

   Lead, mentor, and oversee work performed by field service technicians

   Ensure jobs are completed on schedule and keep customers informed of any delays

   Complete work orders and service documentation accurately and in a timely       manner

   Maintain company vehicle, tools, parts inventory, and safety equipment

   Travel to customer sites as required

    Identify opportunities for system upgrades or parts sales to improve efficiency and system longevity for customers.

    Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service requests, which may require overtime and occasional travel.

Required Qualifications

   High school diploma or GED equivalent.

    10+ years of experience in maintenance, inspection, and repair of boiler systems and related equipment

   Strong knowledge of:

   Boiler systems (steam and hot water)

   Combustion systems and controls

   Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting

    Demonstrated ability to read and interpret CAD prints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals

   Proven experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions

   Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

   Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites

   Proficiency in using various diagnostic tools and testing equipment.

   Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

   Previous experience in a lead or supervisory technician role

   OEM or manufacturer training certifications

   Experience supporting both light commercial and heavy industrial environments
