Job description

Control Systems Engineer (DeltaV)- Colorado
Control Systems Engineer Purpose:
Provides technical support directly to the customer, utilizing a hands-on approach. Executes specific
tasks from defined goals, often without clear definition. Applies control system technology to the
control requirements of the process and related equipment. Designs, implements, and tests process
control strategies, utilizing the continuous and batch capabilities of the given control system. Maintains
consistency, adheres to project and department standards, utilizes appropriate tools while executing
assignments, and provides proper documentation for work performed. Works within assigned technical
scope, budget, and schedule constraints, with direct responsibility for results.
Control Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
โ€ข Serve as the on-site DeltaV Control Systems Engineer for a customer
โ€ข Develop and design Emerson DeltaV control systems including implementing control logic,
configuring process graphics, and support customer acceptance reviews to demonstrate
provided solutions meet customer process and functional requirements
โ€ข Collaborate with customer to produce control system documentation including Functional
Requirements Specifications and System Configuration/Design Specifications
โ€ข Implement continuous and batch designs into the DeltaV control system
โ€ข Conduct internal and customer-witnessed control system factory/site acceptance testing
โ€ข Develop and deploy process simulation
โ€ข Perform Operator and Maintenance training
โ€ข Perform process control equipment installation and startup
โ€ข Perform system upgrades and preventative maintenance activities
โ€ข Explore new opportunities with customers to assess needs for product upgrades/expansion and
services
โ€ข Collaborate with sales teams in discussions as a product or service technical expert for existing
and prospective customers
โ€ข Deliver quality solutions and services to our many customers and industries
โ€ข Share Emergency Call responsibilities with the Projects and Services team
โ€ข Travel periodically to other customer facilities within the multi-state territory served by Applied
Control
โ€ข Proactively learn to apply new automation products on a regular basis
โ€ข Adhere to company and customer safety practices
โ€ข Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems administration
Control Systems Engineer Required Skills/Qualifications:
โ€ข B.S. in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry working experience
โ€ข Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS systems required
โ€ข Experience with Emerson DeltaV Batch / SIS / MES required
โ€ข Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Server operating systems
โ€ข Experience with documentation and functional specifications for DeltaV process control system
projects in the Life Sciences Industry
โ€ข Troubleshoot problems in a logical and timely fashion
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface with internal and
external customers
โ€ข Knowledge of automation and distributed control systems including instrumentation, PLCs, and
HMIs
โ€ข Proficiency in interpreting P&ID, electrical schematics, network architectures, and process
control descriptions
Control Systems Engineer Compensation:
Base Wage Range: $32.00 - 60.00 hourly. For candidates with 5-10 years of DeltaV and field experience
the starting wage could expand to $75.00 an hour.
Other Variable Compensation: Eligible for additional incentive compensation including an annual profit
share award and overtime pay.
