Job description

BDZ Construction is currently hiring Construction Laborers.ย  The Laborer position is an hourly position that reports to the Foreman. The Laborer position is responsible for safely providing labor to complete jobs thoroughly, efficiently, and to specification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loading/unloading tools, materials and supplies and moving them to designated areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of work area.
  • Prompt arrival for scheduled shifts.
  • Possess a current driverโ€™s license and clean driving record if driving Company vehicles.
  • General manual labor
  • Assist co-workers with various tasks when needed such as mixing cement by hand.
  • List is not exhaustive; other duties as assigned by management, as necessary.
  • Ability to arrive at various job sites in the region, including multiple job sites per day.
  • Be familiar with and abide by, Company procedures, policies, and instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skill and ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and handheld power tools preferred.
  • 2 years site/dirt work construction punch list experience preferred but will train motivated individuals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing duties of this job, the Laborer is regularly required to perform the following:

  • Use hands and fingers for hand tools.
  • Ascend and descend a step ladder.
  • Stand and move for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Kneel or crouch for extended periods of time, up to one hour at a time.
  • Operate hand tools or light power tools.
  • Regularly lift and exert up to 100 pounds of force in order to carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Work up to six days per week and 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Usual construction site working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most construction environments. Early morning and evening hours are necessary to accommodate participation in extended hours.
