Job description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is searching for a Systems Administrator - Journeyman to support United States Space Force (USSF) by developing software in support of Space Systems Command (SSC) Defensive Cyber Operations rapid agile development of defensive cyber solutions to protect, defend, and respond to both ground and space based cyber adversarial threats. A successful candidate should be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a fast-paced environment.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to: Supports, designs, maintains and monitors internal and external networks. Implements and manages all systems, applications, security and network configurations. Resolves network performance issues and establishes a disaster recovery plan.

Recommends upgrades, patches and new applications and equipment. Provides technical support and guidance to users. Relies on knowledge and professional discretion to achieve goals.

Usually reports to a supervisor or department head. Required skills: Primacy on Linux/RHEL operating systems administration and associated hardware; knowledgeable on Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems Experience in effective communication and collaborating in a high-performance team environment. RBAC and STIG policy management for RHEL systems Ansible automation/playbooks; YAML Working knowledge of CISCO network and switching and virtualization technologies Working knowledge of virtualization as it applies to users environments, operating systems, and network appliances - Working knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies and data backup technologies Working knowledge communication security (COMSEC) policies and integration Working knowledge and current relevant experience with IL4 and above network environments/systems Must be familiar with DoD policy as it applies to implementing and executing system and network administration Working knowledge of Risk Management Framework and how to apply it to network/information system environments Working knowledge in the following programming languages: - Bash scripting, Python Desired skills/experience: Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in Space Systems Command Experience with USSF Defensive Cyber Operations Education/Certification Minimum Requirements: 3+ years relevant professional experience and a Bachelor's degree; or Associates degree and 7+ years of experience; or High School Diploma and 15+ years of experience.

1 or more Cyber/Sys Admin certs: Security+, Linux, Red Hat, AWS Cloud, CCNA or DoD 8140 Intermediate Proficiency Clearance: Must possess a Top Secret with SCI eligibility. SAR/SAP experience highly desirable Location/Travel Requirements: Place of work is Colorado Springs, remote work opportunity is limited. You may be required to travel periodically, less than 10%.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $110,000/year to $135,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
