Summary of Job: The Registered Nurse (RN) position oversees the medical, psychiatric, substance abuse and nursing care for individuals served. The RN position also services as clinical liaison for designated individuals until they are enrolled in services at another community facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Care & Advocacy:

  • Coordinates services with various public and private community health, mental health and social service agencies to ensure appropriate services for individuals.
  • Assists individuals with preparation and recording of the service planning process.
  • Conducts assessments and treatment plans.
  • Provides individual and family counseling.
  • Participates in the development of educational curriculum.
  • Supervises and/or provides nursing treatment and monitoring, such as diabetes and blood pressure.
  • Responds to crisis calls for assessment and pertinent intervention as needed.
  • Coordinates the relationship with outside medical and nursing support services including pharmacy and laboratory services.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Administers medication as required by protocol.
  • Completes clinical documentation as required.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all Recovery Innovations policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.

Cross Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to continuously improve productivity, efficiency, recovery outcomes and medical care.

Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related duties assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Education/Licenses:
    • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
    • Valid and current state-specific Nursing license (Compact licensure preferred)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their indications, common side effects, reactions and interactions of medications prescribed.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
    • Ability to problem solve.
    • Ability to conduct assessments and treatment plans.
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
    • Effective listening skills.
    • Excellent documentation skills.
    • Trauma Informed Care experience preferred.
    • Bilingual preferred.
    • Must be able to pass de-escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
  • Driving Requirements:
    • If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations' driving policy.
    • If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
  • Miscellaneous Requirement(s):
    • Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless residing in a state where funder or government regulations set a different minimum age requirement.
    • Travel required based on business need.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.

  • Must be able to pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable).
  • Must be able to pass education verification check.
  • Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states.
  • Must be able to pass three-year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier (if driving is required for this position).
  • A Nursing Competency Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.

    Physical Demands: May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds. Work Environment May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused. Work may include travel throughout the geographic region.
