About Large Power Systems Division
The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is part of Caterpillar's Power & Energy segment. Through this global organization, Caterpillar designs and manufactures large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains and key engine systems. LPSD products and solutions support customers across power generation, industrial, marine, oil & gas, rail, services and Cat® machine applications worldwide.

Role Definition
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Product Compliance Engineer to lead product safety and compliance management activities for generator set (Genset) products across the United States and Canada. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet all applicable regulatory, safety, and industry certification requirements.
The successful candidate will act as the primary interface between the engineering organization and certification agencies such as UL, CSA, and other recognized certification and regulatory bodies, ensuring timely certification, maintenance of approvals, and resolution of compliance-related issues. The role requires close collaboration with Engineering, Sales, Operations, Quality, and external agencies to support product development, certification, and market access objectives.
This position also requires periodic travel to test laboratories and certification facilities to witness product testing, support certification activities, and ensure compliance requirements are met. In addition, the role will be responsible for establishing and continuously improving compliance management processes and governance frameworks.
Degree Requirment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering/Power Generation, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in product compliance, certification, regulatory engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Experience with generator sets, power generation equipment, industrial electrical products, or similar engineered products preferred.
  • Strong experience working with certification agencies such as UL and CSA.
  • Experience managing third-party testing and certification projects.
  • Experience interpreting and applying North American product safety and compliance standards.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure generator set products comply with applicable U.S. and Canadian regulatory, certification, and industry standards.
  • Lead compliance efforts throughout the product lifecycle, including new product development, design changes, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with certification agencies such as UL, CSA, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Coordinate product certifications, audits, inspections, testing activities, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Review product designs, specifications, and engineering changes to identify and address compliance impacts.
  • Provide regulatory and certification guidance to engineering, quality, operations, sales, and service teams.
  • Manage certification documentation, technical files, test reports, and approval records.
  • Develop and execute compliance testing and validation strategies with internal teams and external laboratories.
  • Travel to certification labs and test facilities to support testing and certification evaluations.
  • Monitor evolving regulations and standards, assessing impacts to products and business operations.
  • Support investigations and corrective actions related to compliance issues and non-conformities.
  • Develop and improve compliance processes, metrics, reporting tools, and training programs to enhance efficiency and product readiness.

  • Coordinate certification projects, audits, inspections, and follow-up activities.
  • Participate as the primary liaison with UL, CSA, NRTLs, and certification bodies.
  • Ensure products maintain compliance through development, product changes, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Monitor evolving regulatory and certification requirements.

Data Gathering and Reporting
  • Establish compliance metrics, reporting mechanisms, and tracking tools.
  • Manage certification documentation, test reports, technical files, and approval records.
  • Planning, tracking, and reporting compliance activities.
  • Compliance records and audit preparation.
  • Review test reports, certification evidence, and compliance documentation.
  • Develop compliance validation strategies and testing documentation.

Manufacturing Regulatory Environment
  • Strong knowledge of North American product compliance requirements for electrical and power generation equipment.
  • Knowledge of UL standards, CSA standards, electrical safety requirements, NFPA requirements, and generator set compliance requirements.
  • Ensure products maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and assess impacts to products and business operations.
  • Coordinate audits, inspections, certifications, and regulatory reviews.
  • Support manufacturing, quality, operations, and service teams on compliance-related requirements.
