Enterprise Data Analyst

The Enterprise Data Analyst (DA) is a key technical liaison between the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) and various NEE business units. This role uses a blend of business analysis and data expertise to drive the successful use of enterprise data, break down silos, and contribute to overarching business strategies. The DA serves as an advocate for the EDP's data portfolio, helping business partners understand its value, meet their data goals, and tell compelling stories with data.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical Proficiency: Excellent command of SQL.
  • Analytical Aptitude: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Data Storytelling: Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and data storytelling skills.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Good skills to manage client relationships and conduct community-of-practice sessions; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Experience with data in SAP or Salesforce.
  • Experience with Corporate Finance data.
  • Experience of AWS Redshift.
  • ERwin data modeling experience
  • Basic understanding of data management and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

As an Enterprise Data Analyst, you will:

  • Become a Data Portfolio Expert: Deeply learn and evolve into the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the EDP's data portfolio, including its enterprise data model, data products, data ownership, and access control configurations.
  • Support Data Discovery: Assist both technical and non-technical teams, internally and externally, by providing information and guidance on the EDP's data assets.
  • Drive Project Analysis: Conduct in-depth data and business process analysis for new projects entering the EDP pipeline.
  • Manage Data Knowledge: Maintain and improve the EDP's data catalog and discovery tools by:
    • Keeping knowledge articles and data dictionaries current (reviewing, refining, and creating new content).
    • Analyzing usage trends and recommending platform improvements.
  • Ensure Data Quality: Monitor the quality of various data products, identify gaps, and provide actionable recommendations for data quality improvement.
  • Provide Analytical Support: Collaborate with various business units and development teams to understand their data needs and deliver analytical solutions.
  • Champion Process Improvement: Communicate, recommend, and help implement business process improvements based on data analysis findings.
  • Analyze and Interpret Data: Proactively identify and interpret trends, patterns, and anomalies within large datasets.
  • Develop Performant Queries: Write and optimize SQL queries, utilizing basic understanding of performance techniques.
  • Document Data Relationships: Utilize data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin) to understand, document, and share knowledge about the relationships between datasets.
  • Create Visualizations: Design and build impactful visualizations and dashboards using tools like Power BI, Amazon Quicksight, or similar platforms.
  • Support Quality Assurance: Test business processes, help identify data issues, support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and document findings.
  • Build Relationships: Establish strong working relationships with business product owners, practitioners, and executive leadership teams across the organization.
  • Foster a Community: Work with BI and Client Analysts to establish and lead a Data-Analysis Community of Practice for the EDP.
