Job description

Maintenance Mechanic

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to be the hands-on specialist working to keep our property in top shape. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will be the person who'makes things work,' from fixing a leaky faucet to troubleshooting an AC unit or repairing a guest room door. While we prioritize a solid foundation of handyman skills with experience, we are also seeking a team player who understands that hospitality is just as important as hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Guest Response: Head to guest rooms to resolve reported issues quickly and professionally, ensuring they have a great stay
  • General Repairs: Take ownership of fix-it tasks including drywall repair, painting, basic carpentry, and furniture touch-ups.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Conduct daily status checks on all major building equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify potential issues before they cause service disruptions.
  • Mechanical & Plumbing: Perform routine repairs on HVAC units, unclog drains, replace faucets, and handle basic toilet/sink maintenance.
  • Electrical: Handle light electrical work such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, outlets, and wall switches.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular walk-throughs of guest rooms as directed by the Maintenance Manager for the hotelโ€™s formal PM program. Perform inspections and fix minor issues before a guest ever notices them or equipment fails.
  • Property Upkeep: Maintain all front-of-house areas (entrance, lobby, hallways, club room areas) and back-of-house spaces (offices, equipment rooms, employee areas) to ensure they are clean, safe, and fully functional.
  • Safety & Emergency Response: Familiarize yourself with all fire life safety equipment and emergency procedures; in the event of an emergency, respond following established procedures and help where appropriate to ensure guest and staff safety.
  • Additional Duties: Support the hotel team by completing other projects or responsibilities as directed by the Maintenance Manager or Hotel Manager to ensure smooth property operations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in general building maintenance or a related trade.
  • Technical Expertise: Practical working knowledge experience of plumbing, electrical, and general repair tools.
  • Schedule: Flexible availability for all shifts including weekend coverage.
  • Soft Skills: Friendly attitude, good time management, highly reliable.
  • Physical Skills: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and stay active throughout the shift.
