Job description

Hotel Maintenance Worker

The Hotel Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in ensuring that the hotel facility is in good operating condition for the comfort and enjoyment of the hotel guests. The incumbent will perform maintenance repairs and minor renovations as required throughout the hotel property under the direction of the hotel Maintenance Supervisor.

Wages:

  • Pay: $18.00 per hour.
  • Bonus: Eligible for a work performance-based bonus of up to $0.50 for every hour worked from Monday, May 4 through Sunday, October 18; must work a minimum of 200 hours in total. The associate must work until the date of commitment, agreed to at the interview.

Essential Functions:

  • Investigates complaints regarding maintenance issues and examines hotel rooms, halls, and lobbies.
  • Repairs and maintains hotel mechanical equipment and bathroom fixtures.
  • Repairs and maintains hotel plumbing, electrical, air-conditioning, and heating systems.
  • Completes minor building renovations and installation of new equipment.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance and keeps records of repairs/installations.
  • Clean and maintain hotel pools and test pool chemistry.
  • Clean grills, pool area, and straighten pool chairs.
  • Remove trash from all trash cans on the hotel property.
  • Sweep hotel property, including walkways and stairs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and ability with shop mechanics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve for optimal operating efficiency.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, and swimming pool maintenance.
  • Able to maintain an enthusiastic, professional, courteous, and positive attitude with guests, outside contractors, and co-workers.
  • Must have an intermediate understanding of the English Language.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean record.
  • Able to arrive to work in-person, on-time, as scheduled, and wearing the hotel uniform.
  • Adherence to company grooming standards.

Preferred Competencies :

  • At least 1 year of previous maintenance experience.
  • Fluent in speaking and understanding the English Language; bi-lingual a plus.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays, especially during the summer season.
  • Primarily works morning and early-afternoon hours, but is flexible in working varying hours; full-time or part-time.
  • During peak-season, works up to 6 days per week with more than 40 hours per week.
  • Able to work in uncomfortably hot or cold environments and work with industrial cleaning supplies and chemicals.
  • Will work outdoors and indoors and may be exposed to sun, hot temperatures, or rain when working outdoors or moving between guest rooms or common areas.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, or stretch for long periods of time and walk the hotel grounds.
  • Able to lift and/or push up to 150 lbs.
