Job description

Our client, a luxury 240 guest room hotel property, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead the HR function for a high-touch, unionized operation. This is a permanent leadership opportunity for a hospitality HR professional who understands how to operate effectively in a complex union environment while also fostering a strong, people-first culture. This role requires a hands-on HR leader with significant union experience, including Local 6 exposure, who can serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, support managers through employee relations matters, and ensure HR operations run smoothly and compliantly. The property is known for having one of the strongest employee satisfaction scores in its class, so this person must be able to maintain and build on an already positive culture while confidently navigating labor relations and operational demands. The Human Resources Director will oversee all aspects of the hotel's HR function, including employee relations, labor relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and colleague engagement. This person will partner closely with department leaders and corporate stakeholders to ensure consistent HR practices, strong manager support, and a best-in-class employee experience. This is not a role for someone looking to reinvent the department from the ground up. The priority is to provide steady, strategic, and operational leadership, particularly around union matters, colleague concerns, claims, investigations, and day-to-day HR support, while preserving a high-performing and highly engaged workplace culture.
  • $150,000 base + 30-40% bonus

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Human Resources function for a luxury hotel operation in alignment with company standards and business goals
  • Serve as a key advisor to leadership on employee relations, labor relations, performance management, investigations, and workplace concerns
  • Manage union-related matters, including interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance handling, and partnership with union representatives
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on colleague issues, documentation, discipline, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, labor regulations, company policies, and HR best practices
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation processes across the property
  • Lead training and development initiatives to support operational excellence, service culture, and career growth
  • Maintain strong HR operations, including documentation, reporting, policies, procedures, and systems
  • Partner with department heads on workforce planning, colleague relations, and overall people strategy
  • Promote and sustain the hotel's mission, values, and strong employee engagement culture
  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism

Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Human Resources Director or senior HR leader within a hotel or luxury hospitality environment required
  • Must have strong union experience, including Local 6 experience
  • Proven background handling complex employee and labor relations matters in a unionized hotel setting
  • Strong knowledge of local employment laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be hands-on, responsive, and highly visible across the operation
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

If you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.
