Position Summary

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating new group business while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. This position focuses on increasing meeting, banquet, catering, and guest room revenue through proactive sales efforts, account management, and community engagement. The Group Sales Manager works closely with the Director of Sales and resort leadership to achieve revenue goals while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop new group business through networking, cold calling, referrals, outside sales, and community involvement.
  • Respond to inquiries, qualify leads, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and close sales.
  • Conduct site tours and presentations for prospective clients.
  • Maintain and grow existing accounts while identifying opportunities for repeat business.
  • Develop business within assigned market segments, including corporate, association, government, social, and leisure groups.
  • Monitor room block pickup and manage inventory to maximize guest room revenue.
  • Attend pre-convention meetings and planning meetings with clients to ensure event success.
  • Follow up with clients after events to ensure guest satisfaction and identify opportunities for future business.
  • Maintain accurate client records, sales activity, and forecasts within the CRM system.
  • Collaborate with Catering, Banquets, Hotel Operations, and other departments to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Stay informed of market trends, industry changes, and competitor activity.
  • Represent Rod 'N' Reel Resort at networking events, trade shows, community functions, and sales missions.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, trimester, and annual sales goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of hotel, resort, or hospitality sales experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and build long-term client relationships.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel sales software such as Delphi and SynXis.
  • Experience working with hotel sales systems such as Delphi, SynXis, Opera, or similar property management and sales platforms.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent use of a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings, networking events, trade shows, and training conferences.
  • Must be available to participate in the rotating Saturday office coverage schedule and work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require.
