Job description

The Chicago Marriott O'Hare is seeking a skilled Hotel Engineer to join our Engineering team. Previous hotel engineering experience is strongly preferred. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall condition of the hotel property and its systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond promptly to guest room and public area maintenance requests.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems including:
    • Plumbing (toilets, faucets, drains, valves).
    • Electrical (light fixtures, outlets, switches, ballasts).
    • HVAC (thermostats, PTAC units, filters, minor repairs).
  • Conduct routine inspections of the property and report deficiencies.
  • Maintain and test life safety systems as assigned (fire alarms, emergency lighting, exit signage).
  • Perform general repairs such as wall patching, painting touch-ups, door hardware, flooring, and furniture repairs.
  • Assist Chief Engineer with scheduled maintenance programs and special projects.
  • Complete daily maintenance logs, work orders, and safety documentation accurately.
  • Identify and report equipment failures, safety hazards, and building issues immediately.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, management, and fellow associates to resolve issues.
  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and security procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Report all accidents or injuries immediately.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Engineer.

Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years or more of previous hotel maintenance experience.
  • Prior hotel or building maintenance or engineering experience strongly preferred.
  • Work duties may include exerting up to 50 pounds or more of force frequently or constantly by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects.

Availability:
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
