Job description

Flexco, a leading global manufacturer, is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to join our team in Downers Grove, IL. The engineering supervisor will collaborate with a global team to deliver new products and processes for a specific industry segment. This role will oversee a small team, reporting to an engineering manager. The ideal candidate will have experience in large industrial settings, with a specific focus on underground mining solution The chosen candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide technical leadership for a team of approximately 4 โ€“ 5 Engineers and Technicians
  • Lead activities to brainstorm, conceptualize, evaluate feasibility, design and launch new and/or significantly improve products and processes
  • Develop and monitor product development metrics
  • Direct rapid prototyping activities for product development projects
  • Define and direct internal and field testing activities

The Flexco team is interested in you if you have:

  • A Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering field
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, with experience in mining, bulk material handling conveyors or other industrial applications preferred.
  • Strong leadership/management experience
  • Experience in designing and releasing new products
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred
  • Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles involving the calculation of failure analysis using stress, strain, and fatigue
  • Extensive knowledge of the mechanical properties of a variety of materials including ferrous & non-ferrous metals, plastics, and elastomers
  • Experience with designing and developing Electro-mechanical engineering and/or โ€˜smartโ€™ products with digital IOT capabilities (preferred)
  • Familiarity with traditional stage gate development processes as well as agile style design processes (preferred)
