Job description

Job Overview
Fairview Range is looking for a flexible Unit Assistant (UA) to join our resource pool in Hibbing, MN.
As a member of the resource pool team you will provide support and coverage in multiple units within the hospital including Behavioral Health, Women's Health and Birth Center, Acute Care, Surgery, and Emergency Services. This position is an integral part of our team.
The UA functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide direct and indirect quality patient-centered care. The UA performs supportive nursing care appropriate to the age of patients served, including physical hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, socialization, observation, safety, and emotional and physical comfort needs. The UA also maintains a safe and clean working environment, answers call lights, telephones, and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
Schedule: This position is full time, working 72-80 hours per two weeks, 8-hour rotating Day/Evening/Night shifts. Weekends: every other weekend.

Unit Assistant Job Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care by assisting in the implementation of the plan of care under the direction of an RN including but not limited to activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, bathing, and oral cares, eating and drinking.
  • Observes and anticipates patient needs and requests, displays an interest in patient's welfare and comfort.
  • Records obtained patient data in EHR.
  • Receives and directs visitors.
  • Answers telephone; relays messages promptly and accurately.
Unit Assistant Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Current BLS certification or attends BLS class within 3 months of employment and maintains certification. Current BCS or acquires within three months of employment and maintains certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of previous work experience as a nursing assistant.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from a nursing aide program or similarly qualified background.
  • CNA
  • Knowledge of computers and word processing.
